I also
am descended from Josiah and Mary-Ann.
My
grandfather Alfred was the son of Josiah and Mary Ann. According
to the information
I have
following the death of Josiah. Maryann and 3 of her children
sailed on the
"Artrata"
to Victoria where she lived until her death in 1893.
I
believe that eventually 5 of her 7 surviving children settled in
Australia.
Just a
few scraps of information from my end: My grandfather Alfred was
born on
17th
April 1846 came out to Australia in 1874 and settled in Vic. I
don't know where.
He
married my grandmother Mary Addicoat who had been in the colony
since 1855.
As it
happened her family had come from St.just, just down the road as
it were.
They
had 6 children 3 boys 3 girls in order Alfred, Ethyl, Gifford,
Maude,
William, (my dad ) and Florence.
I am
one of eight My eldest brother Giff deceased and am 74 years
old.
We
have a vast family here in Oz. I don't know many of my Victorian
relatives as my branch of the family live in N.S.W.
The
only place I can find him is in the 1851 census living with
Josiah and Mary-Ann.
It
states that he is 77 yrs old and is widowed. We had music in our
family all our
young
lives my father had a fine baritone voice and my mother played
the piano.
Music
is still a very big part of my life.
