The girls were in
action this weekend.

Both Lisa and Laura entered the Cimac
International World Cup and
both recorded fantastic
results.

Lisa won GOLD in her Novice points fighting

Laura won SILVER in junior hard kata and GOLD
in senior hard kata.
Mum Tania said,
"We just could not have had a
better day, the girls were delighted
with
todays results."
Saturday 31st May 2008

Laura
has just treated herself to some new wheels. She can't pick it
up until she
turns
17 ( 2 months time). She needed some
transport to get herself to work,
so decided to buy this.
Sunday 18th May 2008

WOW what a weekend we have had, Lisa and
Laura are winning medals again.
Lisa came 4th in points fighting ,and managed to get her medal
.
With this result it made Lisa more determined to get in the top
3 with her tag team partner for the
next section. They both fought really well,
we certainly saw the competitive side of Lisa.
This was a fight to watch, they won a couple of rounds but lost
in the finals and won silver.
Laura entered senior kata and ladies continuous fighting, she
won gold in the kata.
Next was the ladies continuous fighting, she has never entered
this section before. ( she entered
points last time) . We were watching with one
eye closed, but what a fight she had.
She won her first 2 rounds, but she lost in the finals by a much
more powerful lady. ( but we have t
o remember this continuous fighting all new
to her, and she is only 16 ). Laura did however win Silver ,
she was so happy about that.
Laura has now decided to definitely to enter continuous
fighting in more competitions very soon.
Lisa we hope will feel the same, after bruises have gone.
They both came home a bit battered and bruised, they both said
how much they enjoyed the day.

Here
is a photo of my latest winning trophy, This was won at the
Cimac Super -league
in Wales last Sunday ( 30th March) I did a Kata
that I hadn't done for such a long time,
and was so pleased that I won Gold.
Also a
picture with all my trophies taken by a Sponsor called Neil.

Though
I'd introduce you to our new family member puzzle, she really
has a problem holding those ears up ( ha ha).
Monday 28th January 2008
Laura took part in a competition
yesterday (Sunday 27th Jan). She was doing quite well
in the junior kata section,
until she felt a pain in her shoulder, and she had to ease
off a bit. She won a bronze in
that section, which was a hard section as there were
so many different styles to
compete against.
Half an hour later it was the
senior section. She was going full pelt as she knew she
was up against some really top
adults here.
Half way through her kata she
had problems with pains in her shoulder! She soldiered on
had to do another elbow strike!
She was in agony! With only a few more moves to make
she just couldn't lift her arm
high enough.
Laura says; “It turned out when
I went to the hospital after the competition, I had
dislocated my shoulder. It's
very unusual to do this without contact with something,
in fact they have no idea how
the hell I managed it. No wonder I was in so much pain,
I had a feeling I had as I felt
it go, but thought it went back. At the hospital after a
few twists and turns it went
back into the right place”.
Laura has been advised to rest
her shoulder and not train this week. With another
competition to do next Sunday,
this will be tough on her. She needs to keep her
arm in a sling for 3 days and
see how she feels on Sunday.
20th December 2007

Last weekend (15th-16th
December)I took my 1st Dan (black belt) in sport karate, I
was
over the moon when I was awarded
my belt and certificate yesterday. This is the hardest
of all my gradings, especially
the physical side of it.
I had an hours run as soon as i
got there, followed by a 4 hour fitness course. Then it
was time to do the technical
side of karate, (line work and katas) followed by sparring
for around 20 minutes. Then 30
minutes of continuous fighting ( ok with a 2 minute break
in the whole of the 30 minutes)
. It was a very emotional day, towards the end of the
6 hours the pressure was really
on. No matter how much pain I was in, I knew I had to
block it out. Every punch I
received felt like a burning pain, but if I didn't try to stand
my ground I know I would fail.
Only a few days later
Laura had some great news! She
applied to Horsham Council for a
grant towards her karate
training costs around a month ago. This morning she got a
letter, offering her £150. Laura was over the moon about this.
This now means she can apply
for her passport and put some of
the money towards the cost of a couple of flights
abroad all going well.
Sunday 25th November 2007
News from Laura:
Lisa
decided not to do the competition today, as her cat is due to
have her kittens
anytime now. Danielle and I went along to Alton today and the
results are as follows.
Danielle won silver in the Junior kata, I won Gold in the Junior
kata and Gold in the Senior kata.
Danielle has been ill for the past 3 weeks and didn't decide to
compete until this morning,
I am
very proud of her for entering and she did so well.

I had
a really nice compliment made to me today from one of the
judges, I did 2 different
katas
today. The judge said the kata I did in the senior section was
an exceptional Kata,
he
said it was very well focused and he could feel the energy in
it.
( WOW
what a complement ).
Hope
you like the photo.

Weekend 17th /18th November 2007
KICKBOXING
It was
the UK childrens fighting championships this weekend (16 and
under).
Laura
says; "I am very proud to announce that my sister Lisa won 3rd
place, she did so well as this was only the 2nd time she has
entered the fighting comps.
"As
for me, well let's just say I have a lot more training to do! I
got my butt well and truly kicked but I was up against a couple
of welsh girls who had just won the Irish championships."

Already a Karate World Champion, Laura's main aim right now is
to gain some more experience in the Kickboxing world and she
wasn't too disappointed to finish 4th as these girls had done a
lot of fighting before. It was her 3rd fight and she managed to
score a few points on the champions.
Other
news is that the youngest Fitch Danielle may be entering a kata
competition next week with Laura. We look forward to hearing
more soon...

7th October
YOU
WIN SOME YOU LOSE SOME!
Laura
entered the Cimac super league senior kata tournament in Dorking
today.
She
won a very well deserved, 3rd place.
This
was a very tough competition for her, as the standard was
extremely very high
and
was up against all men who were graded up to Black Belt 4th Dan.
There
were quite a number in her section, where she was by far the
youngest. Being the only
girl
added to the pressure but she did very well.
Handed
loads of fantastic comments at the end of the day Laura said
"You win some, you loose some, and I am very happy with the
result today".

BATWOMAN WINS AGAIN

Laura
entered the Cimac Super League UK Open Championships. It was
open to all styles
and
associations. She was in the Seniors hard kata form section, and
won 1st Place.
21st July 2007
Today
was the All England Karate Championships in Reading, and due to
Laura's knee giving
her a
hard time at the moment she only entered the team event today.
There were Three
in the
team and this prooved to be a hard competition.
They
won Silver in the first section, and then decided to enter the
open section (all styles
of
karate). Laura said; "This was a tough one! We were doing really
well but half way through
my
knee gave way, but i still managed to carry on.'
They
managed to win Bronze despite Laura's problems and they were all
happy with that.
Sunday 8th June 2007
WORLD CUP WINNER
Laura
entered a huge competition yesterday (Sunday).
It was
The Cimac International World Cup 2007. Including
representatives from Italy, Ireland, Wales, Norway, Hungry,
Croatia, and France.
Laura
arriced just after 10am as her section should have started
around
12
mid-day. But it was so busy her section didn't start until 6pm.
The
great news is that she won GOLD!

Laura with the World Cup and her collection of trophies.
She Said; "This is a day i will never forget, in
fact the last month has been a fantastic month
for me. A couple of weeks ago I passed my 1st Dan
( black belt) with a senior grade pass,
this means I will not have to re-take it when I
turn 16.
Now with winning the Cimac International World
Cup 2007 for Junior hard kata, I am starting
to feel all the hard work I have put in is
starting to pay off.
But this is the start of the beginning, I have so
much to learn. You never stop learning no
matter how old you are.
I am also very proud of having parents and family
and friends that have supported me over
the years, without everyone's support I would
never have got this far.
In a
lot of the competitions that I have entered I get asked "how
many people were in
you
category?" What people have to remember is, it's not so much the
number but it's
more
of the case in who you are up against. You can have as little as
2 or 3 people in
your
section, but at the end of the day they could be the best you
come across and you
have
to put as much effort in to get that first place.
I took
my trophy up to my school the other day , ( although I have now
left), Just as a
way of
thanking all my teachers and the staff for all the support they
too have given me.
They
then contacted our local newspaper, and I had a talk and
pictures taken.
How
embarrassing!

Laura gets her Black
Belt
She did her 1st Dan grading ( black belt ) and
passed with a first class senior pass.

Latest News From Laura: 27th January 2007
I had to go back to the fracture clinic
yesterday, and was told some good news and bad!
Good news - The doctors don't think i have torn my cartilage
now.
Bad news - They think i have done something to
my ligaments in my knee.
As you can see they have re-plastered me ( in
bright pink this time ), I have to go back in 2 weeks time for
my full scan report, as they only had part of the report back. I
couldn't believe it when the doctor told me that this ligament
problem is going to take longer than a bone repair. Depending on
the amount of damage that i have done to it, depends on the
amount of recovery time i will need.

The doctors have said a minimum of 2 weeks before the plaster
comes off, and then a further two of months rest. ( This is so
doing my head in! )
So this rules me out of a lot of competitions for
this year!
One of which is Ireland! I really wanted to enter
that one!
Out of the 12 competitions that I was hoping to
enter, the best i can hope for is to make 4 of these! 2007 was
going to be the start of me really pushing myself to get into
the tougher competitions, sods law this!!
Lisa has now just joined Kickboxing, she is
really enjoying it. She is hoping to do her first grading in
March. Hope you like the new pics, I think this is a much
better colour, what do you think? love to you all .

Uh Oh!
Laura is out of training for 6 - 8 weeks (maybe longer)! Believe
it or not she was playing badminton at school, and has torn her
cartilage in her knee.
She's been put in a knee brace ( real sexy looking )! It starts
at the thigh and ends at the shins. She has also been given
crutches.
This has now put her out of going for her black belt in April!
She's gutted!
Saturday/Sunday 18th/19th November 2006
Great News!
GRAND CHAMPION 2006
Laura just emailed and this is what she said:
"Laura here, just though i'd let you know how
today went. I had a fantastic
day today, the results are as follows-
2nd place junior hard kata
1st place senior hard kata
1st place junior soft kata
1st place team kata

At the end of the day, i was presented with 2 other awards for
being the
Grand Champion in both Junior and Senior Kata
sections.

I had no idea about this, i was unaware that every time you win
a trophy
you accumulate points, which are added up at
the last contest of the year.
This was a fantastic way to end the 2006 outside competitions.
Saturday/Sunday 4th/5th November 2006
Competition time again last weekend, Laura got
pipped at the post for 3rd place,
(as she said you win some and you loose some)
whilst
Danielle, on the other hand,
won GOLD. Farnborough competition is only 1
1/2 weeks away. Laura is
entering junior and Adult hard Kata, junior
soft Kata, and also team Kata.
Danielle is not entering this time, she needs
a rest!
Saturday/Sunday 16th/17th September2006
Laura and Danielle had yet another great weekend, in the open
style karate
competition at Farnborough this weekend.

Danielle came 3rd, a great result as this was a hard one for
her. Laura yet again came
1st in the junior brown belts and over
, and 1st in the adults.

Laura is still looking to gain
sponsorship to enable her to progress through the adult ranks.
Here she is with her trophies.
Sunday 27th August
Danielle bless her decided to enter the
Watford competition with
Laura last sunday, and got 1st in her section.
This was only her
second time in entering an outside
competition.

Laura won 1st place in Both junior and adult
sections. In the junior section she
was up against a student who beat her at
Farnborough and in the adult section
she was up against a tae-kwan-do European
champion.
9th July 2006
Laura entered an outside competition this
morning (this was an open competition
& not within our club) Great results! She came
2nd in the junior kata (up to 16 yrs),
and 3rd in the senior.

Laura & Danielle

Laura is seeking Sponsorship for European
Tournaments.
The sponsorship is to cover costs of training,
which is around £120.00 per month,
this should also help cover special training
courses, the costs towards traveling
and competition fees. Sometimes she could
enter up to 4 categories and there are
times where she has to stay overnight. In fact
she sometimes has a competition as
well as a training course. She really puts
everything into it.
There are also weapon competitions. Laura and
her training partner Chris are
both learning the bo, and are hoping to become
instructors for the next karate
holiday in May 2007 when they should both
become black belts.
So a sample of what sponsorship would pay
towards is as follows.
1) Training *****
2) Any weapons required ( we have most of them though) *****
3) Competitions entry *****
4) Towards travel costs **
5) Uniforms & badges ******
6) All courses that she goes on ******
7) Grading's fully paid for ******
8) Newpaper notices ( this is few and far between) **
Items marked with ***** is what the sponsor will pay for in
full, and items with **
is what is only part payment for. You've also
got to remember we have Danielle
going down the same route here, and we can't
afford to pay for both. Laura has
got so much going for her, she is in the fast
lane.
In the last year Laura has been to many
competitions and has done really really well.
She has had, 1st , 2nd and 3rd results. We
went to a huge one in Manchester a
few months ago. We thought she didn't stand a
chance of winning anything,
but she wanted the experience of it.
She did so well!! She was up against 28 black
belts, and remember these are also
mixed sexes up to and including 16 years old.
Laura came 5th which was amazing, and with a different style of
karate,
(which she is always up against, a much harder
style) .
